Why does polyester need dry cleaning?

Polyester (polyester fiber) is a durable, wrinkle-resistant synthetic fiber that can usually be cleaned by washing. However, polyester is recommended for dry cleaning for the following reasons:

Avoid shrinkage or deformation: Although polyester itself does not shrink as easily as natural fibers, some polyester fabrics may be affected by deformation after washing. Especially for some blended fabrics, washing may cause uneven stretching and shrinkage between fibers, which will affect the appearance and size of the clothes.

Avoid color fading or bleeding: The dyes of some polyester fabrics may not be suitable for washing, and they are easy to fade or have color differences with other clothes during the washing process. Dry cleaning can effectively prevent this and keep the colors of the clothes bright.

Prevent damage to decorations or details: There may be some special decorations on polyester fabrics (such as embroidery, sequins, metal parts, etc.), which may be damaged or fall off during washing. Dry cleaning can usually better protect these details.

Decontamination effect: Some oil stains (such as cosmetics, food oil stains, etc.) are not easy to remove with water. The solvents used in dry cleaning can remove these stains more effectively without damaging the fabric itself.

Maintain the quality and feel of clothing: Some polyester fabrics may lose their original luster and feel due to the drying process after washing. Dry cleaning can usually maintain the softness and luster of the fabric and extend the service life of the clothing.

Therefore, although polyester can be washed, for some special polyester clothing, especially delicate or high-end styles, dry cleaning can better ensure that it will be as good as new for a long time.
