FDY Color Yarn
FDY Color Yarn is a highly twisted, soft, strong and flexible filament yarn which is used in warp or weft to make fabrics. It is made from Polyester and can be coloured in different shades of Yellow, Black, Dope Dyed etc. It is widely used in Apparel, Technical Textile, Industrial Textile, Hometextile, etc. It offers several positive points like High Tenacity, Good Elasticity & Low Shrinkage. It can also be further textured, dyed and woven to get fabrics with a variety of uses.
The most common usage of FDY is to make terry cloths for towels, bath sheets and clothings. It is mainly manufactured in the extruder spinning process from Polyethylene Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono ethylene Glycol (MEG). Our company uses Barmag Wings based FDY lines to produce high quality yarns for textile manufacturing. The resulting yarns are suitable for direct twisting, weaving (warp & weft) and knitting in circular and looms.
During the production of POY or FDY, the fibre is not fully stretched and has a residual elongation of around 40%. This gives it the capability to run in high speed sizing, warping and weaving processes and eliminates the need for draw-twisting and sizing which can reduce the fabric cost for light or medium range textile products.
The elongation-to-break properties of FDY are similar to that of non-stretch silk. However, the advantage of FDY is that it can be coloured by adding master batch during the production process. This results in better colour stability and consistency. It is also easier to use than pre-oriented yarns as it has a higher degree of orientation.
Another important benefit of the FDY yarn is that it can be twisted at lower temperature than POY. This can save energy and thus cut down the overall fabric cost. Besides, it can also improve the fabric quality by reducing warp and weft breakages.
In addition to this, the FDY has superior abrasion resistance which is very useful in textile manufacturing. It can withstand more than 5000 abrasion times, and it is resistant to oil. It is also a good choice for carpet manufacturers.
The other main use of FDY is to manufacture woven or knitted fabrics. It can be combined with other filament yarns to create a wide range of fabrics. This includes sateen, twill, denim and terry cloths. The combination of the FDY with other filament yarns can give excellent abrasion-resistant, anti-static, and odor-free characteristics. The resulting fabrics have high strength, excellent elasticity, and good color fastness. This yarn is also easy to machine wash. Moreover, it has a pleasant feel to the touch. This is why it is popular in hometextile and fashion fabrics.
